Comenius Programme for non-native Teachers of English

All the teachers' courses at Castle School are eligible for European Union funding under the Comenius programme.

You can apply to the European Union for a grant of up to €2,500 to attend one of our development courses for teachers . Not only does the grant cover tuition and accommodation, it can also cover travel and living expenses.

To qualify for European funding you need to be:
  • A qualified teacher of English in your own country working at either Primary, Secondary or Tertiary level.
  • A primary school teacher involved in English language teaching.
  • A qualified teacher who is re-training in English language teaching.
  • If you teach subjects using a foreign language (for example, cross-curricular language studies).
  • An English language teacher returning after a career break.
  • A trainer, inspector, or an adviser.

Teachers from the following countries are currently eligible:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden or Turkey.

How to apply for Commenius Funding

1. Book a place on the teachers course you require, telling us that you intend to apply for funding from the European Union. We will send you a booking confirmation letter.
2. Apply to the relevant funding agency in your country and complete the Comenius application form.
3. When funding has been confirmed, contact us to arrange payment of the fees to confirm your place on the course.

Application Deadlines.
The next deadline to apply for funding is:
17th January 2013 for courses starting between 1 May 2013 and 30 April 2014
