Working Holiday Visa Subclass 457, Australia (AEMS)
The main purpose of this visa is to allow young adults between age 18 and 30, from certain countries and regions, to have an extended holiday while supplementing their funds with short-term work in Australia. You may extend your visa for another 12 months if you meet the requirements. Only countries and regions participating with Australia in the Working Holiday program can apply for this visa.
This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through short-term employment. You can work in Australia and may work with the same employer for up to 6 months. However, if your main purpose of travel is to find and engage in employment, you should apply for an Australian work visa.
If you are granted with this visa you can:
• Enter Australia within 12 months of grant
• Stay up to 12 months
• Leave and re-enter Australia any number of times while the visa is valid
• Work in Australia for up to 6 months with each employer
• Study for up to four months.
This visa does not allow you to bring your family member to Australia. If your family member or partner would like to join you, they will need to apply for a separate Australian working holiday visa.
You must be outside Australia when you lodge your first Working Holiday visa application. There are 2 types of applications available, online and paper applications.
You are eligible to apply for a second Working Holiday visa while your first Working Holiday visa is still valid and have completed three months of specified work in regional Australia. If you have lodged your application offshore, you must be outside of Australia for your visa to be granted. If you have lodged your visa onshore, you must be in Australia for your visa to be granted.
